Met Office Warns More Occasional Aftershocks in Next 6 months

Met office warned that more occasional aftershocks may continue during the next 6 months.
Spokesman of Met Office informed that the careful analysis & study of the seismic data of the region is indicating some more but occasional aftershocks in the region. Though the frequency of the aftershocks has already decreased considerably but the available seismicity still indicates the possibility of occasional aftershocks during the next 2 months, which may range around 5.0 on Richter scale at times.

Spokesman further informed that 1500 aftershocks have been occurred so far. The maximum number of aftershocks “122” occurred on 9th Oct, 2005; and now this number has considerably decreased about 8 to 10 a day. Such aftershocks are not unusual because every severe earthquake is followed by a number of aftershocks which may continue for few months with falling frequency & occasional trend.
