An Over view of second day
India was at 393 on the second day of the second Test against Sri Lanka at the P. Sara Oval in
Colombo on Friday. After the start of second innings, Sri Lanka lost its wickets but Mathews and
Thirmanne have once again fought back with a stubborn partnership. By the end of the 2nd day
Sri Lanka was at 140 for the loss of three wickets. Angelo Mathews enjoys an outstanding record
as captain in Tests his aggregate being 1999 in 20 Tests. It was the most purposeful performance
by India which kept Sri Lanka on a leash in 1st session.
By the end of the third day of 2nd test match between India and Sri Lanka, India is still leading
the match by 157 runs. The start of 1st innings by Sri Lankan batsmen was not good enough but the mature and sensible innings of skipper Angelo Mathews and thirimane helped Sri Lanka to play well. But here the superb charged presence of Indian bowlers have once again shown Sri Lankan players; the way to pavilion. In the first test Indian bowlers created a magical blow by removing the players from the crease one after another. And again in the second test Amit Mishra brilliantly dismissed four batsmen of Sri Lanka and because of his great efforts he kept the match in their hands. Sri Lanka ended its first innings by creating a score of 306 in third days. Sri Lanka was still lacking the score but as soon as the second inning started India fought beautifully. The Sri Lankan skipper got his 6th Test hundred, Mishra got his 50th Test
wicket and Binny picked up his first Test wicket. So overall the good cricket by both the teams.
