Hot and Dry Weather in Sindh & Balochistan
The prevailing dry weather is likely to continue during the week. The day temperature are increasing gradually in the country and heat wave of moderate intensity is likely to develop over southern parts of the country including Sindh and southern Balochistan, where the day temperatures are likely to reach between 42 to 45 °C.
The heat wave conditions are likely to subside from coming weekend, after some rain over Northern areas and Kashmir.

More Snowfall predicted in Northern parts during 25th &26th February
A fresh westerly wave likely to grip northern parts of the country from Wednesday night and may persist during next 2 - 3 days. Due to this weather system more snowfall of light to moderate intensity is expected over the hills of Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Malakand and Hazara divisions during 25th-26th February 2010.
Some more snow is also predicted by this westerly wave in Murree and isolated rain with thundershowers may also occur in upper NWFP & upper Punjab including Islamabad during the period.

Rain/ Snowfall Predicted during 21st (Night) and 22nd February
Met office predicted rain/snowfall over the hills at scattered places of Balochistan, during 21st (night) and 22nd February. Rain with snowfall over the hills may also occur at isolated places in upper NWFP, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir and at few places in northeast Punjab during the period.
Met office informed that a weather system of light to moderate intensity is likely to grip Balochistan on Sunday night that would cause rain/snowfall in different parts of Balochistan and then extending towards NWFP and other upper parts of the country.
Note: Due to change in atmospheric conditions and decrease in intensity advisory has been modified.

Rain/ Snowfall Predicted during 21st and 22nd February
Met office predicted rain/snowfall over the hills at scattered places of Balochistan, NWFP, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir during 21st and 22nd February. Isolated rain is also expected over upper parts of Punjab during the period.
Met office informed that a weather system of moderate intensity is likely to grip Balochistan on Saturday night that would cause rain/snowfall in different parts of Balochistan and then extending towards NWFP and other upper parts of the country on Sunday. Under the influence of this weather system more snowfall is predicted over the hills of Chitral, Kalam, Gilgit-Baltistan, Murree, Galyat and Kashmir.
Tourists are advised to be careful about landslides and avalanches during the way to Chitral, Kalam, Gilgit-Baltistan, Murree, Galyat and Kashmir.

More Snowfall predicted in Northern Areas & Kashmir during 12th - 15th February
A weak westerly wave has gripped northern parts of the country that will persist during the current week over there. More snowfall of light to moderate intensity is expected over the hills of Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Malakand and Hazara divisions during
12th-15th February.
Some more snow is also predicted by this westerly wave in Murree during 14th-15th February. No significant rain is expected in plain areas of country during this week, however, a few light rain for short time may occur over upper NWFP & North Punjab during the period.

Heavy Snowfall over the hills ;Weather system has subsided
Dry weather likely in plain areas during current week.
The weather system, after giving widespread heavy snowfall over the hills on Monday/Tuesday has subsided .Cold and Dry weather is expected in most parts of the country during the current week; except in Northern Area and Kashmir where isolated light rain/ snowfall over the hill is likely on Tuesday evening and Friday.
According to Met-Office, widespread rains with isolated heavy snowfall reported from Northern Area, Malakand, Hazara divisions and Kashmir. Kalam received 7 feet, Galliyat 2 and Murree 1 foot of snowfall on Monday/Tuesday.

Widespread Rain with Snowfall over the hills
Weather system weakening gradually
The current weather system after giving widespread rain with snowfall, is weakening gradually. Dry weather is predicted in the plain areas of the country, however, some more rain with snowfall over the hills is expected at isolated places of Hazara division, Northeast Punjab (Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore divisions) and Kashmir on Tuesday. Weather is likely to become clear in all parts of the country on wednesday.
Heavy rainfall in Saidusharif (140mm) and Turbat (93mm) caused flash flooding in Swat river and Kech river respectively. Landslides along major roads of Northern areas, Upper NWFP & Kashmir disrupted the traffic badly.
According to the Met-Office, 2-3 feet snowfall occurred over the hills of Malakand division , Northern area & Kashmir. Galliyat received nearly 1foot snowfall.
Good rainfall also occurred in the Barani areas of Punjab that will be very useful for the rabi crops.

Weather Warning:
Heavy snowfall on Sunday and Monday
Risk of landslide along major roads of Northern areas and Kashmir.
Met-Office warns about heavy to very heavy snowfall at times over the hills of Murree, Galliyat, Hazara, Malakand Divisions and Kashmir on Sunday/Monday.
According to Met Office, the current weather system is intensifying gradually and it would cause widespread snowfall over the hills of Murree, Galliyat, Hazara, Malakand divisions and Kashmir, that may disrupt the public life due to closing of link roads in the area from Sunday afternoon to Tuesday.
Risk of landslides along major roads, including Karakorum Highway, would exist during the period.

Widespread Rain & Snowfall Predicted
A strong westerly weather system is likely to approach the country during the next 36 hours and would cause widespread rains and heavy snowfall during the period from 5th to 8th February, 2010.
Rain / snow will commence over Balochistan / NWFP from 5th which will subsequently increase in intensity and distribution. From 6th February, gradually, it would extend to Punjab, Northern Areas & Kashmir and especially on 7th & 8th February these areas would receive widespread rains and heavy snowfall over mountainous regions. At times, heavy snowfall in Galliyat, Kashmir and Northern Areas may cause disruption in daily life and at few places may cause landslides also.
Isolated rain also expected in Sindh including Karachi on Sunday (evening)/Monday.
The above predicted rains would be very useful for Rabi crops, water resources and help in alleviating the dry conditions in the country.
