Monsoon Weather Advisory

           

Yesterday’s depression (strong monsoon weather system) over India has moved in a westerly direction and now lies over East-Madhya Pradesh. It is likely to move in a westerly direction and weaken gradually.

 

Under its influence widespread heavy rains have occurred in Punjab and upper parts of the country during the last 12 hours. Chief amount of rainfall:

 

Haripur = 87, Faisalabad = 68, Islamabad (Airport = 55, Saidpur = 47, Zero point =31), Palandari = 55, Sahiwal & Daggar = 54 each, Phulra = 51, Kamra = 50, Kotnaina = 45, Murree & Jassar = 43 each, Okara & Attock = 41 each, Oghi =39, Shakargarh = 38, Baba Shah Jalal (Chakwal) = 36, Tarbela =31, Joharabad & D.I.Khan =30 each, Sehrkakota = 26,

 

 

Now the monsoon activity is likely to be shifted to southern part of the country gradually, during the next 24-36 hours.

 

Punjab, Islamabad & Kashmir Catchment Areas including Earthquake Affected Areas:

                       

            Scattered rains/thunderstorm at few places during next 12-24 hours

 

Sindh:

 

                Scattered rains/thunderstorm after 24-36 hours especially in southern & southeastern Sindh with chances of isolated heavy fall with gusty winds           

           

Balochistan

 

            No significant weather, except possibly of isolated rain in eastern Balochistan.

 

NWFP:

 

Possibility of any significance rain in NWFP and Northern area in next 2-3 days is very low.

Monsoon Weather Advisory

 

Yesterday’s deep depression over India has weakened and lies as depression (strong Monsoon Weather System) over Jharkhand (India) and likely to move in a Westerly direction towards Pakistan.

 

Under its influence strong monsoon moisture currents are penetrating into upper parts of Pakistan. Later after about 24-36 hours the moisture supply to Southern parts of Pakistan is also likely to enhance.

 

Punjab; Islamabad & Kashmir Catchment Areas including Earthquake Affected Areas and NWFP:

 

                        Widespread Monsoon rains at times heavy to very heavy accompanied with strong gusty winds are expected in most parts of above mentioned areas during the next 2-days.

 

Sindh:

                        Rain / thundershower and strong gusty winds are likely at many places in Sindh especially South and Southeast Sindh between evening 8th – 10th July 2007 (Probability 60%).                     

 

Balochistan:

 

                        Eastern Balochistan may also likely receive rains at times heavy between evening 8th – 10th July 2007 (Probability 60%).

Yesterday’s deep depression now lies over West Bengal and likely to move West-Northwesterly direction in next 24 hours.

 

Punjab; Islamabad & Kashmir Catchment Areas including Earthquake Affected Areas and NWFP:

 

           Under its influence widespread Monsoon rains at times heavy to very heavy rains accompanied with strong gusty winds are expected in most parts of above mentioned areas during the next 3-days.

 

Sindh:

           Chances of scattered rains with gusty winds are also possible in Sindh especially lower Sindh between Mid-day 8th – 10th July 2007.              

 

Balochistan:

 

           Eastern Balochistan may also receive rains between Mid-day of 8th – 9th July 2007.
