UPDATE: Weather Advisory No.7 for Sindh / Balochistan

(Tropical Cyclone 03B Warning)

 

 

 

Tropical Cyclone 03B (YEMYIN) during the last 03-hours has moved West-Northwesterly direction and crossed Makran coast near Ormara / Pasni at about 1100 hours PST. The system is likely to move in West-Northwesterly direction and weaken rapidly in next 6-8 hours. Coastal areas are expected to receive heavy rainfall accompanied with strong gusty winds during the next 5 – 6 hours before the cyclone is dissipated. Other areas of Southern Balochistan are also likely to have widespread rains / strong winds next 36 hours.

 

Fishermen of Sindh and Balochistan can resume their normal activities from tomorrow morning. Further, Sindh and Balochistan are expected to receive scattered rainfall during the next 24 hours after the dissipation of cyclone into a low pressure area.

                     This is the last weather advisory being issued for the Tropical Cyclone 03B.

UPDATE: Weather Advisory No.6 for Sindh / Balochistan

(Tropical Cyclone 03B Warning)

 

 

 

Tropical Cyclone 03B (YEMYIN) during the last six hours has moved North-Westerly direction and its intensity has also decreased slightly. Now its distance from Karachi has increased to 130 km. The nearest distance from Karachi was 90 Km during the night.

 

Now Tropical Cyclone is heading West-Northwesterly direction towards Balochistan coast and likely to have its landfall before noon near Ormara. The worst affected areas are likely to be Ormara & Pasni, Whereas Jiwani and Gawadar will be the next affected towns.

 

As far as Sindh is concerned the worst appears to be over, but widespread rains in coastal areas of Sindh may continue during the next 12 hours

UPDATE: Weather Advisory No.5 for Sindh / Balochistan

(Tropical Cyclone 03B Warning)

 

Tropical Cyclone 03B (YEMYIN) now lies at about 100 km* from Karachi and likely to move in a North-Westerly direction in the next 6-12 hours and likely to intensify further and cross Balochistan coast in the evening of 26th June 2007 between 62.0° E  65.5° E

Tropical cyclone is likely to cause widespread destruction and coastal flooding along Balochistan coast due to extremely heavy rainfall, gale winds and associated storm surge. Evacuation from coastal towns of Balochistan is highly recommended.

 

Tropical Cyclone is expected to intensify further before landfall.

 

 

* This indicates the distance from the center of Tropical Cyclone whereas Tropical Cyclone cloud mass is already covering coastal areas of Sindh and Balochistan.

UPDATE: Weather Advisory No.4 for Sindh / Balochistan

(Tropical Cyclone 03B Warning)

 

 

Tropical Cyclone 03B (YEMYIN) has moved West/ Northwesterly direction during the last six hours as expected and now lies at about 130 Km Southwest of Karachi. It is expected that it will continue its movement West/ North Westerly direction in the next
6-12 hrs. Initially it will move along the coast of Sindh and landfall is expected between Ormara and Gawadar sometime tomorrow noon.

Tropical Cyclone is expected to intensify further before land fall.

 

Sindh:

Under the influence of Tropical Cyclone widespread heavy to extremely heavy rainfall at times accompanied with strong gusty winds are likely in Sindh especially along Sindh coastal areas including Karachi, Thatta, Badin, and Katibandar etc. Flash Flooding in some hilly areas can be ruled out.

 

Balochistan:

As the landfall is expected along Balochistan Coast the areas of Ormara, Pasni, Gawadar and Jiwani on likely to be the worst affected areas. Where beside extremely heavy rainfall and gusty winds the storm surge of 25-35 ft is also expected. Widespread rains in other parts of Balochistan can cause flash flooding in hilly areas.

UPDATE: Weather Advisory No.3 for Sindh / Balochistan

(Tropical Cyclone 03B Warning)

 

 

This morning strong Monsoon Weather System (Deep Depression) over North Arabian Sea has converted into a Tropical Cyclone. Now it lies about 150 km South of Karachi at Lat 23.0°N and Long 67.0°E. Maximum sustain winds 40 knots to 50 knots gusting to 60 – 70 knots. Associated storm surge along Sindh coast is expected to be 10 – 15 feet and along Balochistan coast is expected to be 20 – 25 feet.                                

 

            The Tropical Cyclone is likely to move in a west-Northwesterly direction.

 

            Expected Cyclone Track is enclosed.

(Tropical Cyclone Formation Alert)

 

Sindh:

Yesterday’s Monsoon Weather System (deep depression) over Indian Gujarat has entered in North Arabian Sea and now lies at a distance of about 150 km South of Karachi. It is likely to intensify into a tropical cyclone during next 6-12 hours. This system is likely to move in a West / Northwesterly direction.

 

Under its influence widespread rains / strong gusty winds with scattered heavy to very heavy rainfall are likely in Sindh especially in Southern Sindh and coastal areas including Karachi.

 

Sea conditions will be very rough to extremely rough along Sindh coast. Fishermen are advised to stop fishing activities till 27th afternoon.

 

Irrigation authorities may further reduce the canal discharges.

 

Balochistan:

 

                        Later the cyclone may likely to move towards Balochistan coastal areas.

 

Under its influence widespread rains / strong gusty winds with scattered heavy to very heavy rainfall are also likely in Balochistan especially in coastal areas including Gawadar, Jiwani, Pasni, Ormara, Lasbella etc. Hilly areas especially in Southern Balochistan may experience flash floods.

 

Sea conditions are also expected to be very rough to extremely rough along Balochistan coast. Fishermen are advised not to venture into the Sea from 25-28 June, 2007.

Weather Advisory for Sindh / Balochistan

 

Sindh:

A strong Monsoon weather system (deep depression) over India is likely to approach Sindh coastal area in next 36-48 hours.

 

Under its influence widespread rains with scattered heavy to very heavy rainfall are likely in Sindh especially in Southern Sindh and coastal areas including Karachi.

 

Sea conditions will be very rough to extremely rough along Sindh coast. Fishermen are advised to stop fishing activities from 24th afternoon till 27th afternoon.

 

Irrigation authorities may reduce the canal discharges.

 

 

Balochistan:

 

Later the Monsoon weather system may likely to move towards Balochistan coastal areas.

 

Under its influence widespread rains with scattered heavy to very heavy rainfall are also likely in Balochistan especially in coastal areas including Gawadar, Jiwani, Pasni, Ormara, Lasbella etc. Hilly areas especially in Southern Balochistan may experience flash floods.

 

Sea conditions are also expected to be very rough. Fishermen are advised not to venture into the Sea from 25-28 June, 2007.
