SODAR

(SOnic Detection and Ranging)

SODAR is an Acoustic device similar to a Sonar(SOund Navigation And Ranging but working in the air.

Used for remote sensing of the lower Atmosphere and gives information of Wind speed, Wind Direction and Temperature at various altitudes.

Installed at two sites in Pakistan only by Pakistan Meteorological Department.

 

1.        At Hyderabad

2.        At Kot Sabzal, Rajanpur.

State of the art equipment have been used to gather data and utmost care is taken to collect data.

Type of data Logger Used:

NRG Data Logger

At present, following seven parameters are being

 measured & stored.

1.Wind Speed at 100 ft from ground

2.Wind Direction at 100 ft from ground

3.Wind Speed at 30 ft from the ground

4.Snow sensor

5.Solar radiation

6.Pressure
